aimpoint compm4

LaRue Aimpoint COMP M4 Mount QD

This mount is for the newest version of the US Army’s M68 CCO (Close-Combat Optic).

It is available in three sizes, Tall, Medium & Short. The “Tall” mount aligns the CompM4 perfectly in front of the LT Pivot-Mounted Aimpoint 3XMagnifier, LT-Mounted PVS-14 and / or all BUIS units. The “Medium” mount provides absolute-cowitness and is compatible with other USGI-height mounts. The “Short” mount is the correct height for Piston Uppers, like the HK416.

The mount comes complete with replacement mounting screws with wrench, QD adjustment wrench, vial of blue Locktite and Instructions.

Available in three heights: LT659 (Tall, 1.725) for standard AR15 / M16 / M4 uppers

LT659-NV (Med. 1.535) for absolute-cowitness and compatibility with USGI night vision mounts

LT659-HK (Short 1.395) for HK 416, and piston uppers.

As can be seen this covers improvised sound suppressors, and component parts of a sound suppressor. There is no thresh hold level of sound reduction for something to fall under this definition. ATF used to require the device “appreciably” lower the sound (see Revenue Ruling 57-38); now the working definition seems to be anything that traps gas from the muzzle of the gun, or from porting of the barrel, is a sound suppressor. In general recoil compensators and flash hiders do not fall under this definition, but some designs could fall into the category. As with any borderline device the thing to do is to get a written opinion from the Technology Branch of ATF. It is what they exist to do.
